Green’s portrait of the Anderson family was exhibited as part of the show “Shoes: The Agony and the Ecstasy”. This was a touring exhibition from Tyne & Wear Museums celebrating footwear through the ages, asking why shoes can mean so much to us. The exhibition examined our fixation with shoes, exploring obsession, fashion and function, as well as delving into the controversial topic of pain and pleasure.Shoes are much more than simply an item of clothing - they can be objects of fantasy and desire, they can make us feel good or they can be instruments of torture and abuse.
